When I was in school I took a news writing class. One of the articles that the professor handed out to us was about making a career out of blogging. At the time, I didn't even know what the word blog meant. He described how people would tether themselves to their computers for hours, 10, 12, 14 hours and write. I thought to myself "That's insane. I could never do that."
Now I think I've invented a new syndrome. First there was carpal tunnel (which I have) and then blackberry thumb (which I don't) and ischiumitus.
Ischiumitis is an inflammation of one or both of your butt cheeks due to the pressure of sitting on your sit bone, or ischium, for too many hours writing in your blog or writing in general. I'm sure there is an actual scientific name for it, but mine works for me.
My right side always gets ischiumitis, even if I lean to the left I somehow drift back.
On that note I'm going to get some ice and Motrin for my ischiumitis. Tomorrow I'll probably aggrevate my new found malady by sitting at my computer and writing about it. Maybe I'll sell it to a health blog.
